Many mothers often use paper liners to line cloth diapers or use disposable diapers for their newborns. However, this is both ineffective and costly. Fortunately, diaper brands now produce newborn inserts that can be attached to diaper covers or triangular cloth diapers.

    Benefits of using newborn inserts

    – More affordable for mothers

Compared to disposable diapers, newborn inserts are much cheaper. Newborns urinate and defecate very frequently, requiring constant diaper changes. Using inserts is therefore much more economical than disposable diapers.

Currently, there are also disposable diaper options on the market, but the price is quite high compared to inserts. Using inserts provides both quality for the baby and savings for the mother.

    – Suitable for the needs of young children

Newborns often sleep a lot and move very little, so they don’t need diapers with high leak protection. They just need good absorbency so they can sleep soundly. Therefore, in reality, an insert is sufficient. Mothers should choose inserts with good absorbency and a soft surface for the baby’s comfort.

    – Comfortable for newborns

Some newborns experience chafing or redness on their thighs and groin (where the diaper is fastened) when using disposable diapers. A newborn’s skin is very delicate and easily injured. If the mother doesn’t choose the right size diaper and doesn’t use it correctly and carefully, it can easily cause skin irritation due to friction.

Therefore, it’s better for mothers to choose inserts for their newborns. The design is simple, and the mother can choose soft diaper covers or fasteners in a size suitable for the baby to use with the insert. This way, whether the baby is sleeping or moving around while awake, the diaper won’t shift or cause skin irritation.

    How to use newborn inserts

Newborn inserts are often used with cloth diapers, diaper covers, or snap-on pants. If the mother only uses a cloth diaper without an insert, the diaper will get wet very easily. Not changing the wet diaper promptly will make the baby uncomfortable, fussy, and even lead to diaper rash. To use a newborn insert, first remove the adhesive strip from the insert, then stick it directly onto the diaper.

Next, remove the soiled diaper and clean the baby’s diaper area with a soft cloth or alcohol-free baby wipes. A small note: For baby girls, wipe from front to back to prevent infection of the genital area.

The last step is to put on a new diaper. Before putting on a new diaper, make sure the baby’s skin is clean and dry to prevent diaper rash.

    Tips for using newborn inserts:

    – Choose inserts that fit the baby’s weight

When choosing newborn inserts, mothers should choose the type that is appropriate for the baby’s weight and age. Choosing the right insert will help it fit snugly against the baby’s skin, prevent leakage on both sides, and provide more comfort.

Currently, newborn inserts on the market are labeled with sizes and weights suitable for babies, so mothers just need to pay attention to the information printed on the outer packaging and choose the appropriate product for their child.

In addition, mothers should also note that before changing the newborn insert, they must ensure the baby’s skin is clean and dry before putting on a new insert. Mothers can use wet wipes or baby wipes to clean the baby’s skin.

    – Regularly check the baby’s insert

Newborn inserts usually only last for 2-3 urinations. Therefore, when using inserts for your baby, you should regularly check for leaks and change them as needed. Regularly checking the insert will help keep the baby cleaner and help prevent bacterial infections.

If the child has previously had a diaper rash, temporarily discontinue using the inserts. Once the rash has cleared, you can use them again.
