Instructions for Using the Microlife Electronic Thermometer
Follow these steps to measure body temperature with the Microlife electronic thermometer:
Measuring Body Temperature
1. Ensure the body temperature mode is selected.
2. Press the O/I button. The LCD screen will activate and display all segments for about 2 seconds.
3. The last measured temperature will be automatically displayed on the screen for about 2 seconds.
4. The device is ready to measure when:
– It beeps.
– The °C/°F symbol and the measurement location icons flash.
5. Place the probe in the center of the forehead, no more than 5cm away. Ensure the forehead is dry, not covered by hair, or a hat, and position the probe 1cm above the end of the eyebrow.
6. Press the Start button. Move the thermometer along the eyebrow so the sensor scans the temperature. Release the button, and the device will beep once. This signals the end of the measurement.
7. Remove the thermometer. The LCD screen displays the measured temperature.
8. Body temperature status indication.
Measuring Object Temperature
1. Ensure the body temperature mode is selected.
2. Press the O/I button. The LCD will activate and display all segments for about 2 seconds.
3. The last measured temperature will be displayed automatically for about 3 seconds with the “M” symbol.
4. The device is ready to measure when: It beeps, The °C/°F symbol and the measurement location icons flash.
5. Place the probe in the center of the forehead, no more than 5cm away. Ensure the forehead is dry, not covered by hair or a hat, and position the probe 1cm above the end of the eyebrow.
6. Press the Start button. The sensor will scan to measure the temperature.
7. Release the Start button. Remove the thermometer. The LCD displays the measured temperature.
Notes When Using the Microlife Electronic Thermometer:
- The patient should rest in a stable room environment for at least 30 minutes.
- Do not measure during or immediately after caring for a baby.
- Do not use the forehead thermometer in a humid environment.
- The patient should not drink, eat, or exercise before/during the measurement.
- Before placing the thermometer probe on the area to be measured, clean any dirt, hair, or sweat from that area.
- Use an alcohol swab to carefully clean the probe and wait about 15 minutes before taking a measurement on another patient.
- The device will beep 10 short times when the temperature is higher than 37.5°C (99.5°F) to alert the patient of a fever.
Cleaning and Storage
- Use an alcohol swab or alcohol-soaked cotton (70% isopropyl alcohol) to clean the thermometer casing and probe. Do not allow liquids to seep inside the thermometer. Do not use abrasive cleaners, paint thinners, or benzene for cleaning, and do not immerse the device in water or other liquids. Do not scratch the surface of the LCD screen.
- Remove the battery from the device if it will not be used for an extended period to prevent damage from battery leakage.
- Always measure the temperature at the same location, as temperature readings can vary at different locations.
