    Tilapia is a nutritious food source suitable for baby food thanks to its high protein content, omega-3 fatty acids, along with many minerals and vitamins essential for a child’s development. However, cooking fish porridge to completely remove the fishy smell is not easy. Below is a recipe for tilapia porridge for babies, guaranteed to be delicious and flavorful.

    Tilapia Porridge Recipe for Babies with Choy Sum

    Ingredients:

    • 50g of rice (or white rice as desired)
    • 30g of tilapia (about 1/4 of a small fish)
    • 20g of choy sum
    • 1 slice of fresh ginger
    • A little spring onion (if the baby is not allergic)
    • 1 teaspoon of baby oil

    Instructions:

    • Wash the tilapia with diluted salt water to remove the slime and natural fishy smell. Then, rinse with clean water.
    • Boil water, add the fish and a slice of fresh ginger. Ginger effectively removes the fishy smell.
    • When the fish is cooked, remove it, let it cool, gently remove the bones and skin, then shred the fish.
    • Wash the rice, put it in a pot with enough water (ratio of 1 part rice to 10 parts water). Cook over low heat until the porridge is soft.
    • Wash the choy sum, chop or puree, then add to the porridge pot when the porridge is almost cooked.
    • When the porridge and vegetables are soft, add the fish to the pot, stir well, and cook for about 5-7 minutes to allow the fish to absorb the flavor and soften.

    Finishing:

    • Spoon the porridge into a bowl, add a little baby oil, and mix well. If your baby likes it, you can add chopped spring onions to enhance the flavor.

    Note: Depending on your baby’s preference and taste, choy sum can be replaced with spinach or Malabar spinach.

    Ingredients:

    • 50g of glutinous rice and regular rice (1:1 ratio)
    • 30g of tilapia
    • 50g of pumpkin
    • 1 slice of fresh ginger
    • 1 teaspoon of baby oil

    Instructions:

    • Clean the fish, wash with diluted salt water, and rinse with clean water to remove the fishy smell.
    • Boil the fish with ginger to reduce the fishy smell, then remove, let cool, remove the bones and skin, and shred the fish.
    • Peel, wash, and chop the pumpkin.
    • Add the pumpkin to the porridge pot first with the rice to cook until the pumpkin is soft and blended with the porridge.
    • Wash the glutinous rice and regular rice, put them in a pot with water, and cook until the porridge and pumpkin are soft.
    • When the porridge is almost cooked, add the fish and cook together. Stir well to mix the fish with the porridge.
    • Continue cooking for 5-7 minutes to let the fish absorb the flavor and the pumpkin cook thoroughly.

    Ingredients:

    • 50g of rice
    • 30g of tilapia (about 1/4 of a small fish)
    • 50g of sweet potato (about 1 small tuber)
    • 1 slice of fresh ginger
    • 1 teaspoon of baby oil

    Instructions:

    • Wash the fish with diluted salt water to remove the slime and fishy smell. Remove the internal organs and black membrane inside the fish’s belly.
